Alltnacriche 2008

Our church weekend was held this year during the weekend of 12th-14th September 2008 at Alltnacriche near Aviemore.

Our speaker was Andy Kennedy who helds lead 'Kings Kids', YWAM (Youth with a Mission).

The theme of the weekend was : I will build my Church

Its text was :  Zechariah 4:6

So he said to me, "This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty.

Being blessed with a warm weekend with only one rain shower certainly helped us as we appreciated Gods creation at the SU centre of Alltnacriche. Andy Kennedy led us in discovery of the work of the Holy Spirit using personal examples, loads of Scriptures, and allowing time for the group to listen to God and respond his voice.  

The young people's teaching sessions were led by Gemma Greer and Malcolm Black from Stirling Baptist Church. For many this proved to be a significant moment in their walk with Jesus. Meal highlight was the Spaghetti Bolognese on Saturday night - splendid. Good ”team work” was seen in all support roles for meals and housekeeping. The table tennis tournament was won by Ian Meyer with runner up, Craig Kennedy. 

On the Sunday morning we worship together as family where groups brought different aspects to the meeting be it art, music, drama or prayer. It was a precious time. 

Like most weekends away the question is what next? The evening services might be a vehicle for us to discover more of the topic. Going forward we need to research ( not academic) more regarding the Holy Spirirt, and open ourselves up to what God is doing allowing the Spirit to be the strength of the body of Christ.
