Today started with Quiet Time. Devotions with John. He taught us that everyone is a light. Some may be bright, colourful, or peaceful. At wetlands field I set up the goalposts. There were a lot more people there today. 5 of them became Christian.
Tonight some of us are sleeping under the stars like last night. I hope it doesn't rain.
Our second day of outreach was just as action-packed as the first with even more kids turning up - about 130. We had our work cut out. After all the bubbles, and face-painting, and circus skills, and balloon modelling, and football, and chatting, we performed a couple of dramas - set me free, and the chocolate box. We also had magic gospel tricks and testimonies. A number of people were prayed with and some gave their lives to the Lord. Lots nd lots were asking questions. Can't wait to see what God will do tomorrow. Love in Christ, Josh.
We had reversals after breakfast and then our devotions and Quiet Time. I had little to do so became a demon in the 'Set Me Free' drama. When we performed during our time at the field we looked really effective (I THINK?). Our ages were painted withies of black and red. Tonight in the Fox and Goose pub we put on a talent show. It was amazing, and packed out. I performed as part of 'Heather and Assorted Antartic Birds'. We sang the penguin song. A number of people experienced God's love and gave their lives to Jesus today. Please pray for them! Love, Heather.
My initial purpose for joining this Soul Survivor/YWAM mission was to expose Joshua to a world of mission which up until now he had no idea existed. His mum and I saw it as a sort of rite of passage. In many societies, young boys at a certain age would participate in a ritual/journey which would test them and set them apart from younger boys - they would return to their community a changed person: a man. Joshua will be 12 in just over a week (how many times has he reminded me of that!), and throughout this year we plan to mark his transition from a young boy into a young man. This week away on mission with a team of well of 40 people from about 20 nations isn't about filling up Joshua's long summer holidays with another activity. But rather, it is a deeply spiritual ritual/journey where he is exposed to the one and only true and living God - through the interaction with godly people in this team, through the experiences of 'reaching into a world on mission to places where worship should exisit but does not', and whatever else the Holy Spirit highlights in their lives. I hope you can pick up from the blog entries of Joshua, Heather and Douglas, that these young people have changed. Life will NEVER be the same again for them. From now on, the way they will look at the world will be tinted by the exposure they have had this past week to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. They're not perfect - that's not for now but for the future. However, God has begun a good thing in them and I'm so excited at he possibilities that will bring from here on in!
We had a 1 hour drive to Droitwich which was very educational as I was sitting next to Grace who is Andy and Catherine's 6 month old baby. Outreach was awesome. I'm really learning about children and how to talk with them. Please pray that the Droitwich area of Westlands would come to know God! Love, Heather.
